Tilde is developing the market leading Latvian-English, English-Latvian, Lithuanian-English and Latvian-Russian machine translation (MT) system by integrating statistical and rule-based MT methods as well as by innovative processing of multiword expressions. Tilde’s research in machine translation has been internationally acknowledged, particularly research in translation of place-names. The machine translation is powered by the Amazon cloud computing service, providing for the required translation capacity. If the number of request grows, the capacity can be increased flexibly.
